2008 Hyundai Sonata Overview
Introduction
The Hyundai Sonata has become a large car, with a full-size edge in creature comfort. Fit and finish are now on a par with most others in the class and it is more technologically advanced and sharper looking than ever before.
The Hyundai Sonata is a four-door, five-passenger sedan, and comes with a choice of 162-hp 2.4-liter four-cylinder and 234-hp V6 engines. The four-cylinder is available with either a five-speed manual or a four-speed Shiftronic automatic. The V6 comes with the five-speed Shiftronic automatic introduced in 2006. Safety features on all Sonatas include dual-stage front-seat airbags, front-seat side-impact airbags for torso protection, full-coverage side curtain airbags, antilock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution and electronic stability control with traction control.
For 2008, the Hyundai Sonata trim levels change slightly.
NHTSA Frontal Crash Test
NHTSA rates crash-tested vehicles by assigning them one to five stars, with five stars indicating the most injury protection and one star indicating the least protection.
