OK, you're probably not going to buy your dad a car for Father's Day. But if you were (best son or daughter EVER), TrueCar.com has some surprising data that shows which car your dad might really want.
Based on 2011 data received from fathers about the cars that they drive, the findings show a strange concoction of sedans, trucks and minivans. Yes minivans. Come on dads.
"Unlike the list of vehicles men prefer, which includes the Porsche 911 in the top spot, the data shows that fathers have traded in speed for practical vehicles with a back seat," said Kristen Andersson, Senior Analyst at TrueCar.com. "We're finding that fathers need a fuel-efficient car for commuting to work and weekend activities."
But while that sounds rather yawn-inducing, it is comforting that dads are making a nice, pragmatic decision about their rides. After all, have you ever tried to sit in the back of a 911? Those rides to soccer would have been a lot less pleasant had that been his daily driver.
Click through to see what dad really wants this year. While he's no longer a speed demon, he has your best interests at heart. And that's what makes dads so great.
