Man Drives Car Around the World
One day about a year ago, a Roy Locock jumped in his convertible sports car, started driving and didn't stop, according to a story by CBCNews.ca. The greying Brit had no route in mind, he just closed up his life in England and hit the road, ending up traveling through Europe and India by car, and then to Australia and South America by boat. He recently landed in Regina, Canada. "It's very much an adventure," he told CBCNews.ca. "That's really what I was looking for and it's certainly lived up to that."

A woman with a blood-alcohol level five times the legal limit escaped from her burning car unharmed, a story by CBS13.com reported.
Caroline Pochy, 47, was driving erratically on a road in Folsom, Calif. when her car spun out of control, hitting an embankment and bursting into flames. She was not seriously hurt in the incident, but she was arrested for a DUI; her second in the past two weeks.

Lincoln, Neb. police say a 12-year-old boy got drunk, stole a car, and crashed into three other cars before a citizen stopped him.
In a story by the Lincoln Journal Star, the pre-teen took a 1988 Honda Accord from a Kwik-Mart before driving erratically through a mobile home park. A 41-year-old man chased him down and held him to police came. When the boy was arrested, he had a blood alcohol level of 0.14.

One-Way Street, Two Directions
Two mayors of neighboring Paris suburbs caused commuter chaos when both of them declared a street they share one-way, but in different directions. Police were called in to direct traffic and calm road rage on D909, which goes one way in Levallois-Perret, and the opposite direction in neighboring Clichy-la-Garenne, according to the Telegraph. Clichy has been ordered to make its part of the road two way, but the mayor is appealing that decision.

In 1989, car enthusiast Ron Frost bought a brand new cherry red Mini, complete with alloy wheels, drove it home to his private museum and parked it. Now, 20 years later, the car has 148 miles on it, the original oil in the engine and is worth more than he paid for it.
Frost, a retired mechanic, spent $9,745 for the G-reg, the latest model of its kind at the time, according to the Daily Mail. Now the car, which he has sold, is worth an estimated $11,400.

Butter on Bridge Prevents Suicides
Government officials in Guangzhou in southeast China ordered workers to smear a 1,000 foot steel bridge with butter to prevent suicides.
Several attempts had been made at the bridge each month, backing up traffic for hours, a story by Metro.co.uk said. Officials say the butter makes the bars hard to climb, making it easy to thwart attempts. There have been no suicides since using the butter, the story said.

Mechanic Finds Goat in Trunk of Car
A woman dropped her car off at an auto repair shop in Winona, Wis. with a goat tied up in the trunk, according to the WinonaDailyNews.com.
Auto repairman James Prusci, said he popped the trunk to find a goat painted Minnesota Vikings purple and gold, with Brett Farve's #4 shaved in its side. Appalled, Prusci called animal rescue and officials are considering filing charges against its former owners. The goat has since been adopted.

Man Travels By Wheelchair to Propose
A disabled man traveled 130 miles by wheelchair to propose to his girlfriend, only to have his offer rejected. According to the Daily Mail, the 67-year-old traveled for four days across Germany, using only his arms to push the chair. After the 66-year-old widow turned him down, he started the journey back home, but had to be rescued by police when his wheel got stuck in a cornfield.

Bridge Operator Drunk at the Helm
A Boston drawbridge operator has been suspended for allegedly being intoxicated at his post while neglecting to let a tug boat crew chug under the bridge.
Police were dispatched to the bridge after repeated calls to open the bridge were ignored. Officers arrived at the heavily trafficked Andrew P. McArdle Bridge to find Robert Finn "in a state of intoxication" at his monitoring station according to TheBostonChannel.com.

Falling Fish Smashes Car Windshield
A woman vacationing in Marblehead, Ohio got more than she planned for when a falling fish smashed the windshield of her car.
Authorities say an eagle flying above Leighann Niles' car dropped its catch -- a Lake Erie freshwater drum known as a sheepshead -- on the windshield, AP reported. Niles said the impact felt like a brick hitting her car, but she wasn't hurt in the incident, the story said.

Enrique Velez and Marta Lily parked their car in a no-standing zone on a NY street, but only so Lily could feed their 6-month old son who had been crying from hunger, according to the New York Times.
Despite explaining to the traffic enforcer why they stopped, the couple was hit with a $115 ticket for parking in a commercial no-meter zone, around 2:40 pm. The restriction is lifted at 3 p.m.
“He didn’t care,” Mr. Velez told the Times. “We were not blocking anybody. It’s not like we had to move. There were not even cars.”

Boy Takes Car to Skip Church
A seven year-old boy led officers on a car chase in an effort to avoid going to church.
Witnesses reported a child driving recklessly Sunday morning. Two officers caught up with the boy and tried unsuccessfully to stop the Dodge Trepid. The car reach 40mph before stopping in a driveway, with child fleeing inside the home.
When confronted, the boy said he didn't want to go to church reports the Associated Press.
