The Chevrolet Tahoe is a purpose-built, full-size four-door, family-oriented SUV. A sharp, precise driving feel, Active Fuel Management engine technology, and enhanced safety features make it a popular choice among full-size SUVs.
The Tahoe is available in LS, LT, and LTZ trims in both 2WD and 4WD. The standard engine on the rear-wheel drive Tahoe is a 295-hp 4.8-liter V8. Four-wheel drive models come standard with a 320-hp 5.3-liter V8 that features GM's Active Fuel Management technology that turns off four cylinders in many normal driving situations. A version of this engine can run on both E85 ethanol-blended fuel as well as regular unleaded gasoline. A four-speed automatic transmission is standard. Standard equipment includes dual-zone air conditioning, cloth seating for five people, 17-inch wheels, a tire-pressure monitoring system, StabiliTrak stability control with rollover mitigation, and an eight-speaker audio system with CD player and a year of OnStar service.
For 2008, the Chevrolet Tahoe is largely a carryover.
NHTSA rates crash-tested vehicles by assigning them one to five stars, with five stars indicating the most injury protection and one star indicating the least protection.
