2006 Volkswagen Rabbit Overview
Introduction
The Volkswagen Rabbit is a quick, fun to drive hatchback with typical high level German refinement.
The Rabbit is available in two-door and four-door versions. Power comes from a 2.5-liter, inline five-cylinder engine that generates 150 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque. Transmissions include a standard five-speed manual or an optional six-speed automatic. All models include power windows, mirrors and locks, keyless entry, 15-inch wheels, air conditioning, and cruise control. The four-door comes with more standard equipment, such as, heated front seats, a six-disc CD player, and a 10-speaker audio system. When it comes to safety, all Rabbits are equipped with six airbags, traction control, anti-lock brakes, front safety belts with pre-tensioners and load limiters, anti-intrusion side door beams, and a steering wheel which is deformable/collapsible upon impact. Electronic Stabilization Program (ESP) with brake assist is optional.
The fifth-gen Golf has been renamed Rabbit for 2006. Other notable changes include an all new exterior and interior design, new engine and transmissions, and a fully independent multilink rear suspension.
