2008 Volkswagen R32 Overview
Introduction
The highly anticipated and sporty R32 is a more luxurious and refined vision of Volkswagen's Golf/Rabbit/GTI family. With its power, speed, and comfort, the R32 performs like a luxury car in a deceptively modest hatchback body.
The R32 gets its name from the 3.2 liter, 250hp, six-cylinder engine under the hood. The only transmission choice is Volkswagen's DSG (Direct Shift Gearbox) transmission, allowing either automatic shifting or automated manual operation through the use of finger-operated paddle shifters on the steering wheel. It is available only as a two-door hatchback, featuring all-wheel-drive, 18-inch summer performance tires and a choice of four colors. Volkswagen has packaged the R32 with six airbags, including side curtain and side torso airbags for the front passengers. Antilock brakes and electronic stability control help to keep the car under control in all conditions.
The R32 is new to the U.S. in 2008, following its introduction and popular reception in 2004.
