2007 Volkswagen New Beetle Overview
Introduction
The Volkswagen New Beetle is practical, trendy, and refined. It combines German engineering and performance with exceptional fit and finish. Offered as a two door hatchback, or a two door convertible, with seating for four passengers, this is a modern interpretation of an unmistakable icon.
The Volkswagen New Beetle is a front-wheel drive car based off of the MK4 generation Golf/Jetta platform. The standard engine is a 150-hp 2.5-liter inline-five cylinder. Buyers can also choose between two different transmission types; five-speed manual, or six-speed automatic with Tiptronic. Air-conditioning, cruise control, tilt/telescoping steering wheel, keyless entry, power windows and door locks, and heated exterior mirrors with turn signal indicators, are all standard conveniences on the Beetle. Safety features include six airbags, anti-lock brakes, traction control, electronic stability program, and anti-intrusion side door beams.
For 2007, the 1.9-liter TDI engine has been removed from the options list.
