The Toyota Matrix combines the style and spirit of a sporty car and the functionality of a small sport utility vehicle with the affordability of a compact sedan.

The Matrix is available in two front-wheel drive trim levels (Base and S) and one all-wheel drive trim level (S). The 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine found in the Base trim produces 132 horsepower, while S trims are equipped with a 158-hp 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. Available transmissions include a five-speed manual, four-speed automatic and a five-speed automatic with manual shift mode. Every Matrix is equipped with 16-inch wheels, heated exterior mirrors, air conditioning, cruise control and a CD player with MP3 capability. Standard safety features include Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) with integrated traction control, anti-lock disc brakes with brake assist, front side-impact airbags, front and rear curtain airbags, front active head restraints and a tire pressure monitoring system.

For 2013, the Matrix receives an upgraded standard audio system with hands free capability. The Base trim is now equipped with six speakers.
