2006 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Overview

Introduction

The Toyota Highlander promises top-notch quality, durability and reliability. But it's also a practical and easy mannered SUV. The Hybrid produces less environmentally harmful pollution and offers better gas mileage.

The Highlander Hybrid combines a 3.3-liter V6 with a high-torque electric drive motor-generator, a system called Hybrid Synergy Drive. It uses an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission. The Highlander Hybrid is available as a base or limited 2WD or 4WD. Safety features start with front seatbelt pretensioners and force limiters. The driver and passenger front airbags inflate according to collision severity and front-seat passenger weight category. Optional side-impact airbags are mounted in the front seats and side curtain airbags are designed to protect the heads of first- and second-row passengers. A new low-tire-pressure warning system is also standard.

The Toyota Highlander Hybrid is all new for 2006.
