2008 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Overview
Introduction
The 2008 Highlander Hybrid is almost identical to the popular Highlander SUV with the addition of a more environmentally friendly hybrid engine.
Available in Base and Limited trims the Hybrid version of the Highlander contrasts very slightly from its parent in styling, with different headlights and grille. The vehicle is powered by high-torque electric drive motor-generators and a 209-hp, 3.3-liter V6 engine paired with an electronically controlled CVT transmission. The Highlander Hybrid Base can seat up to five people with two front bucket seats, two second-row captains chairs and a center stow seat. The Limited includes a third row bench seat that brings total seat capacity to seven. The Highlander Hybrid comes with plenty of safety features, such as antilock brakes and brake assist, side-impact and side-curtain airbags, and an electronic stability system with traction control. The standard warranty for hybrid-related components is 8 years/100,000 miles.
For 2008 the Highlander Hybrid gets restyled along with the original Highlander.
NHTSA Frontal Crash Test
NHTSA rates crash-tested vehicles by assigning them one to five stars, with five stars indicating the most injury protection and one star indicating the least protection.
