2006 Toyota Camry Overview
Introduction
The Toyota Camry is the perfect transportation sedan, flawlessly performing its duties, never annoying its owner. It outsells all the other midsize cars largely because of Toyota's reputation for quality, durability and reliability.
The Camry sedan comes in four trim levels: base, LE, SE, and XLE. A 154-horsepower 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine comes standard on Camry, LE and SE models. A five-speed manual transmission comes standard; a five-speed automatic transmission is optional. The LE is available with a 190-horsepower 3.0-liter V6; it comes with the automatic transmission, included in the option price. The XLE is available with the 2.4-liter four-cylinder or the 3.0-liter V6, both with automatic transmission only. The SE is available with a bigger 3.3-liter V6 rated at 210 horsepower, which comes with the five-speed automatic.
For 2006, the Toyota Camry gets a five-speed automatic choice with the available four-cylinder engine.
The Toyota Camry sedan is thoroughly revamped. Inside is a new, airy interior; the engines are more powerful; the transmissions more diverse; and the new models are more fuel-efficient.
The Camry comes in four trim levels plus the new Hybrid model. All are five-passenger, four-door sedans. (The Solara has not been redesigned.) All four trim levels, CE, LE, SE, and XLE, come standard with the 158-hp, 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. A 268-hp, 3.5-liter V6 is optional for the LE, SE, and XLE. Then there's the Hybrid with its gas/electric power plant. Depending on the trim there is the option between a five-speed manual, five-speed automatic, or six-speed automatic transmission.
For 2007, the Toyota Camry is fully redesigned.
The Toyota Camry sedan continues to carry its reputation of safety, reliability, and quality while offering fuel efficiency, space, and power.
