2006 Saturn VUE Overview

Introduction

The Saturn VUE stands out among the compact SUVs with its unique styling and innovative plastic body panels, which resist dents and eliminate corrosion. Inside, it's roomy and practical.

The Saturn Vue comes standard with a 2.2-liter four-cylinder engine and front-wheel drive. The four-cylinder is available with a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission. For 2006, power windows, locks, and mirrors, air conditioning and cruise control are standard. Also standard: an adjustable steering column, a four-speaker AM/FM stereo, rear privacy glass, an engine-immobilizing anti-theft system, visor vanity mirrors and a cargo area organizer.

For 2006, the Saturn VUE's interior trim has been improved and the front and rear styling has been revised.

The Saturn VUE has evolved from generic utility device to full-fledged sport utility with the speed and luxury to match other compact SUVs.

The Saturn VUE seats five passengers and is available in front- or all-wheel drive. It comes in four trims: Base, V6, Green Line, and Red Line. The entry-level Saturn Vue is powered by a 143-hp 2.2-liter four-cylinder engine matched with a five-speed manual transmission. A step up is the model with a four-speed automatic and a higher level of standard equipment is also available. The V-6 is defined by its Honda-built, 248-hp V6 engine, and it's matched with a five-speed automatic transmission. An all-wheel-drive model is also available. The Green Line is hybrid-powered, with a 170-hp 2.4-liter engine and a battery-operated electric motor plus a four-speed automatic transmission. The Red Line delivers aggressive performance on the street, and it can be matched with either the 143-hp 2.2-liter four-cylinder engine or the 248-hp 3.5-liter V6.

For 2007, the Saturn VUE receives standard OnStar and a new hybrid model.

The redesigned Saturn VUE is a compact sport utility vehicle with a new European design that accommodates five passengers and has a generous cargo area.

The VUE is available as either a front-wheel drive (FWD) or an all-wheel drive (AWD) and each has three trims: the XE, the XR and the Red Line. The FWD XE is powered by a 169 hp 2.4-liter Ecotec four-cylinder engine and the AWD XE has a 222 hp 3.5-liter V6. The XR and the sporty Red Line models have a 257 hp 3.6-liter V6. The FWD XE receives a four-speed automatic and all of the other trims receive a six-speed automatic transmission for their V6 engines. The new exterior design has a much sportier style with taut and curving body panels and a tapered rear roofline. Safety features will include six airbags: front, side and side-curtain. Also standard is a one-year subscription to GM's OnStar safety and security system that includes automatic crash notification that calls for life-saving personnel and equipment in any crash in which airbags deploy and the driver doesn't respond to calls.
