The 2008 Saab 9-3s are sporty and dynamic cars featuring progressive Scandinavian design and powerful turbocharged engines. They have earned top safety honors four years in a row.

The front-wheel drive 9-3 is available in three body styles, a four-door Sport Sedan, a two-door soft-top Convertible, and a four-door wagon called the SportCombi. Two trim levels are offered, the 2.0T and the Aero. The 2.0T is powered by a high-output, 210 hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a six-speed manual transmission or five-speed automatic. The Aero features a 255 hp turbocharged 2.8-liter V6 engine with a six-speed manual transmission or six-speed automatic with shifter paddles on the steering wheel. Standard safety features include front and side airbags as well as Saabs' anti-whiplash Active Head Restraints. The Sport Sedan and SportCombi include side curtain airbags and the Convertible includes side airbag head extensions and rollover protection. New for 2008 on the Sport Sedan and SportCombi is the 9-3 TurboX, featuring a new Haldex XWD all-wheel drive system, a 280 hp version of the Aero 2.8L V6, and other special equipment. The XWD system is an available option on the Aero Sport Sedan and SportCombi.

For 2008, the Saab 9-3 gets some new options and an optional all-wheel drive system.
