Porsche Boxster Spyder 2dr RWD Convertible

The Porsche Boxster is a two-seater mid-engine roadster reminiscent of the legendary Porsche 550 Spyder. The second-generation Boxster pays homage to its roots this year, with the introduction of a new lightweight Spyder model showcasing performance enhancements, distinctive styling and a cockpit tailored for the sports car purist.

The rear-wheel drive Boxster is offered in three trims: Base, S and the all-new Spyder. The Base gets a 255-hp 2.9-liter flat six-cylinder engine; a 3.4-liter flat six-cylinder engine with direct fuel injection powers both the S and Spyder, generating 310 and 320 horsepower respectively. A six-speed manual transmission is standard, while Porsche's PDK seven-speed double-clutch gearbox, including manual shift mode and steering wheel paddles, is also available. The Boxster is outfitted with a power retractable rear spoiler, 17-inch alloy wheels, LED tail lamps, leather seat trim, air conditioning, cruise control, Bluetooth wireless connectivity and a CDR-30 audio system, including MP3-compatible CD player and universal audio interface; S trims add 18-inch alloy wheels and an upgraded sound system. The Spyder gets exclusive equipment, including a fixed rear lip spoiler, 19-inch alloy wheels, locking rear differential and leather/simulated suede sport seats with carbon fibre seatbacks; for enhanced performance, the radio and air conditioning are deleted as weight-saving measures. Standard safety features include Porsche Stability Management (PSM), anti-lock disc brakes with brake assist, front and side seat-mounted airbags with a curtain airbag for head protection, and fixed roll-over protection bars.

The Porsche Boxster carries over with minimal changes for 2011. New standard equipment on Base and S trims includes floor mats, Bluetooth wireless connectivity and a universal audio interface, while four new packages group together popular convenience, infotainment and design options. Additionally, a new Spyder model debuts - an open vehicle concept with a unique removable canvas top.
