The G-Class is available with two different engines: a 292-hp 5.0-liter V-8 w/seven-speed automatic in the G500, and a 493-hp 5.5-liter supercharged V-8 w/five-speed automatic in the AMG-tuned G55. Loaded with standard luxury features such as a leather interior, premium wood trim, rear parking assistance, navigation system, Bi-xenon headlights, rain-sensing wipers, dual zone climate control, heated/cooled power driver and passenger seats with memory, to name a few. On the safety front, Mercedes' Tele Aid system is standard, along with anti-lock brakes, brake assist, electronic stability control and side-curtain airbags.

For 2008, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class receives an updated instrument cluster and COMAND system, as well as standard tire pressure monitoring.
