2007 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class Overview

Introduction

The Mercedes-Benz GL-Class is the auto maker's first full-size sport utility vehicle. This all-new GL-Class of SUVs features three rows of seating and can seat up to seven passengers.

The GL 450 comes with a 4.6-liter V8 engine, seven-speed automatic transmission, the 4MATIC four-wheel drive system, and the Airmatic air suspension system. It comes with seating for seven and with a third row that powers up or down at the touch of a button. Safety features that come standard include eight airbags, including side airbags for all four outboard first and second-row seating positions as well as side curtain airbags that protect occupants in all three rows. Active safety features include an Electronic Stability Program, anti-lock brakes with Brake Assist Plus, and four-wheel electronic traction control.

The Mercedes-Benz GL450 is a brand new model for 2007.

The GL-Class is offered with three different engine choices: a 215-hp 3.0-liter diesel V-6 in the GL320 CDI, a 335-hp 4.6-liter V-8 in the GL450 and a 382-hp 5.5-liter V-8 in the GL550. All engines are bolted to a 7-speed automatic transmission and full-time four-wheel drive system. Standard safety features include antilock brakes w/Brake Assist, traction control, stability control w/roll control, eight airbags, Tele Aid SOS system and a security system, to name a few.

The GL-Class, introduced in 2007, adds the GL550 for 2008.

The GL-Class is offered with three different engine choices: a 210-hp 3.0-liter diesel V6 in the GL320 BlueTEC, a 335-hp 4.6-liter V8 in the GL450 and a 382-hp 5.5-liter V8 in the GL550. All engines are bolted to a 7-speed automatic transmission and full-time four-wheel drive system. Standard safety features include anti-lock brakes w/Brake Assist, traction control, stability control w/roll control, eight airbags, Tele Aid SOS system and a security system, to name a few.

For 2009, the GL320 now has the 50-state capable BlueTEC diesel engine technology. While all models benefit from the new standard PRE-SAFE predictive occupant protection system.

For 2010, the GL320 BlueTEC has been renamed GL350 BlueTEC, and all models have refreshed styling including LED rear lights, new front and rear bumpers, new wheel designs and optional LED daytime running lights.
