2003 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Overview
Introduction
The E-Class is the intermediate line-up from Mercedes-Benz for the North American market, available in both rwd or awd sedan and station wagon variants. These cars are brilliantly engineered, carefully constructed as well as practical. The high speed stability these cars exhibit makes them confidence expiring (especially on the highway).
The E-Class model range begins with the E320 sedan and station wagon, which comes standard with a 3.2L V-6 producing 221 hp @ 5600 rpm and 232 lb-ft of torque @ 3000 rpm and either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive (4Matic). Buyers looking for more will likely find what they're looking for with the V-8 powered E500 (offered as a rwd sedan only). The 5.0L V-8 engine of the E500 makes highway passing maneuvers effortless with 302 hp @ 5600 rpm and 339 lb-ft of torque @ 2700 rpm. A five-speed automatic transmission is standard for the entire model range. A range topping E55 AMG model, armed with a supercharged 5.4-liter V-8 engine, delivering 469 hp @ 6100 rpm and a staggering 516 lb-ft of torque at 2650 rpm produces jet like acceleration. Notable standard features of these cars include; multilink-rear independent suspension, automatic climate control, ABS brakes with brake assist technology, rear head restraints and seat belt pre-tensioners. The E-Class has been completely redesigned for 2003.Next Steps »
