2008 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class Base CLS63 AMG 4dr Coupe Overview

The CLS Class is Mercedes-Benz's youngest class, consisting of the CLS550 and CLS63 AMG. These models are large but handle like smaller cars and have bold but sleek lines. The CLS Class is a result of an effort to combine the sporty character of a coupe with the practicality of a sedan.

Cars in the CLS Class can seat up to four passengers and feature four-door designs despite the coupe character. The CLS550 comes with a 382-hp, 5.0-liter V8 engine teamed with a seven-speed automatic transmission. The much more aggressive CLS63 AMG has 507-hp, 5.5-liter, supercharged V8 under its hood and a five-speed automatic. Both models come with Mercedes-Benz's Pre-Safe system, which automates settings in the car for optimal safety. The sunroof closes automatically in an impending accident and seats move to the safest positions. More traditional safety features that come standard include side-curtain airbags and antilock brakes.

For 2008, the CLS Class comes with more standard features.
