Quirky but Beautiful
I have almost 40k miles on my 2005 Quattroporte. It is fun to drive when you can move through the gears or on the open highway. Stop and go traffic is not as much fun with the Duo-Select transmission not the best for "creeping". The Duo-Select tends to hesitate when accelerating from a stop as the F1 computer and pump react to your pressing the accelerator. This requires the driver to pick larger gaps to enter traffic. However, once engaged you must hold on as the power comes on fast once the clutch is engaged. Great to use the paddles and full throttle to get to the posted speed limit quickly! Maintenance is expensive with a clutch replacement and brakes costing what you would expect for an exotic car. I also have a Mercedes R Class which seems very economical by comparison. Resale is extremely poor for the 2005 and they can be had for less than 20% of their original sticker prices. Make sure you know the total cost to own and demand a complete maintenance history. The QP is not the fastest, best handling or most economical sports sedan out there *********** turns heads and puts a smile on my face every day on the way to work.
The most bueatiful car you dont want to own. The first quadraporte I bought was so bad Maserati usa took it back and replaced with a new one after approx 1000 miles. The tow truck operater and I were on a first name basis. This car was towed from my office, two restrauants and twice from my home.Just what you would expect from a $120,000.00 car. The second car was better but had the same tendancies. The computer keeps saying return to dealer ,and the dealer who has been very reponsive in fixing the problems ,which continue to plague the stylish auto. I have replaced the brake pads twice in 18,000 miles,a full set of tires, and have had the car towed in 3 or 4 times for repairs on the computer chips which keep saying return to dealer. What adds insult to injury is that maserati is the only car manufactor who does not offer an extended car warrentee. They dropped their program 2 years ago.I cant imagine why,******* obviousy they dont want the responsibilty of the expense. On 3/25 masrati said,"some one in Italy is working on it,but we don't know when or if Maserati will have an extended warentee.Maybe I should go to a 3rd party for an extended warentee". Thank god I have a jeep that I have the confidence to drive out of my neighborhood. Last month I got stuck in traffic on a hill. The transmission over heated because i used the gears to hold the car from slidding backwards. Twice I pulled over while the car cooled down. Great car to have in the driveway to inpress the neighbors but I dont have the confidence to drive it further than a half hour from the house. But what do you expect for $120,000.00 As for holding its value,Hell I could probably get 25% of what I paid for it with 18,000 miles. I'm pissed I cant get a warrentee. If you fell the same contact me at email@example.com and lets get our voices heard in Italy
Review of 2008 Maserati Quattroporte
Way to skim on the mpg
If I were going to pay this type of money I would expect the car to have the best of everything. Including mpg. Its a beauty but its not the beautiful.
