Larger and more powerful than other Lotus vehicles offered in the US, the 2012 Evora is Lotus' mid-engine coupe. In keeping with Lotus tradition, the Evora employs innovative lightweight chassis technology to ensure all-round dynamic performance. The Evora is available in two trims, base and S, and in 2+2 or 2+0 (without rear seats) layouts.

The Evora's light-weight aluminum chassis, four-wheel-independent suspension, Eibach coil springs, Bilstein shock absorbers, AP Racing/Brembo brakes and Pirelli P-Zero performance tires combine to provide precise handling. The base Evora is powered by a Lotus-tuned and Toyota sourced 276 horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine with a standard Sports Ratio six-speed manual or an optional 6-speed automatic transmission. The Evora S uses the same 3.5-liter V6, but a supercharger bumps horsepower to 345. Recaro sport seats, leather and aluminum interior trim, and a CD/MP3/WMA stereo system with iPod connectivity are standard. The optional Tech Pack includes a Pioneer stereo, navigation system, Bluetooth wireless connectivity, cruise control, and rear parking sensors. The available Sport Pack includes a switchable sports mode featuring enhanced throttle response and RPM limit, sports traction control mode, sports diffuser, titanium exhaust tips, cross-drilled brake discs and red painted brake calipers. The new Premium Pack Sport features leather seats with contrast stitching and piping and carbon effect leather inserts.

Changes for 2012 include a revised selection of paint colors; redesigned door seals and latches; a new low inertia flywheel and clutch; a new exhaust design to give a sportier exhaust note; revised gear linkage, gear stick design and positioning; a Pioneer stereo for the Tech Pack; an additional Premium Pack Sport option; and a revised interior with new colour options, leather covering on extra surfaces, redesigned steering wheel, higher quality leather, and new floormats. The Sports Ratio 6-speed manual becomes the standard transmission for the base trim.
