2006 Lexus RX 400h Overview
Introduction
Just like its brother the RX 330, the RX 400h is the first luxury hybrid SUV. But even though it takes away less from the environment and emits only as many emissions as a compact car, the RX 330 has a powerful take off and an aggressively powered engine.
The RX 400h combines a regular 3.3-liter V6 gasoline engine with a pair of high-torque electric drive motor-generators, one driving the front wheels and another driving the rear wheels. It comes standard with electric all-wheel drive and still offers the same 3,500-pound towing capacity as the RX 330. Although it is a complex vehicle, it is very easy to drive. There is no manual recharging and no plug-in cords to remember. It also follows the tradition of Lexus reliability with a warrantee on the hybrid drivetrain for 8 years or 100,000 miles. Amenities include a dual-zone climate control, GPS navigation, power seats, power windows, a power liftgate, rear-seat DVD, and a megawatt audio system by Mark Levinson.
For 2006, changes are minimal.
