2014 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Overview

The Range Rover Evoque is Land Rover's 5-passenger luxury compact SUV, offered in two bodystyles: the Evoque Coupe, a production version of the dynamic LRX concept car, and the versatile Evoque 5-Door. For the 2014 model year, both versions get the most extensive update since their launch, and debut the world's first nine-speed automatic transmission.

The Range Rover Evoque is powered by a 240-hp 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with direct fuel injection and Intelligent Stop/Start. It is mated to a new nine-speed automatic transmission with rotary shifter, manual mode and steering wheel paddles, while Land Rover's unique "Terrain Response" system enhances all-surface, all-weather capability. For 2014, the Evoque has been further augmented with an Active Driveline; during normal, steady state driving, the system can decouple the rear driveline, but automatically and seamlessly reconnects the four-wheel drive system when necessary, with no driver intervention required. Standard features common to all trim variants consist of aluminum wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, push-button start, Bluetooth wireless phone connectivity/audio streaming, an 8-inch high resolution touchscreen and a Meridian sound system with CD player, MP3 capability, 2 USB ports and an auxiliary input jack. Additional trim-dependent standard equipment includes a power liftgate, panoramic glass roof, Adaptive Dynamics, passive entry/start, leather upholstery, heated and cooled front seats, heated rear seats, HD/satellite radio and upgraded audio, along with a hard drive-based voice-activated navigation system with internal memory for digital media storage. Every Range Rover Evoque is equipped with a broad scope of safety technologies, including anti-lock brakes with brake assist, electronic stability control with traction control and roll mitigation, front and rear parking aid sensors with rear camera, and seven airbags. Adaptive Xenon headlamps, automatic high beam assist, blind spot monitoring and a surround camera system are also offered. For 2014, blind spot monitoring is enhanced by a Closing Vehicle Sensor that detects vehicles in the adjacent lanes approaching at speed, while Advanced Park Assist gets a new Park Exit functionality, allowing complete steering automation to maneuver the vehicle out of a parallel parking space. Additionally, Adaptive Cruise Control with Queue Assist, Forward Alert and Intelligent Emergency Braking is available for the first time on the Range Rover Evoque.

The Land Rover Range Rover Evoque is extensively revised for 2014. Significant engineering features include the world's first 9-speed automatic transmission, along with Intelligent Stop/Start and an innovative Active Driveline. Standard equipment and safety technologies are also comprehensively enhanced.
