The Sportage is a five passenger vehicle that is offered in front-wheel or all-wheel drive. A 176-hp 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine is standard on the Base, LX and EX trims. A 256-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine is standard on the SX trim and available on all other trims. A six-speed manual transmission is standard on the Base model, while all other models feature a six-speed automatic transmission. Standard safety features include four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, electronic stability program, traction control, and six airbags, including side curtain airbags.

The Kia Sportage is all new for 2011. It features the new SX trim, a larger engine, new transmissions, new exterior features like body-colored mirrors, black wheel well trim, and an all new grille. Inside the Sportage has been enhanced with metal-look interior accents. It's longer, wider and lower then its predecessor with ample cargo space, while standard air conditioning, Sirius satellite radio, audio and cruise steering wheel controls make for a very enjoyable ride.
