2009 Jeep Compass Overview
Introduction
The Compass is an affordable compact SUV meant to bring the Jeep name to a broader range of drivers with car-like on-road capability and fuel economy.
Sharing the same platform as its stablemate, the Patriot, the Compass offers a choice of front-wheel or full-time four-wheel drive. Two trims are available: Sport and Limited, which have a 172-hp 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine and five-speed manual transmission as standard equipment. A Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) is optional. A 158-hp 2.0L engine, available with the CVT only, is available on the FWD Sport trim. Standard safety features include anti-lock brakes with brake assist, electronic stability control with roll mitigation, traction control and side-curtain air bags. The optional RALLYE Group provides 18-inch alloy wheels with performance tires, a body color kit, bright exhaust tip, driving lamp and spoiler. The MyGIG entertainment system with hard drive, UConnect wireless connectivity and navigation system, is a new option.
For 2009, the Compass receives a significantly upgraded interior, with improved design and quality of materials. The Sport?s radio is upgraded with an MP3 player, and the Limited receives a 6-CD/DVD/MP3 player with SIRIUS satellite radio.
