The Hyundai Tucson is a compact SUV that is nicely proportioned with clean lines and short overhangs front and rear.

The front-wheel drive Tucson comes in three trims: the GLS, SE, and Limited. The GLS has a 140 hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, with a choice of a five-speed manual gearbox or a Shiftronic four-speed automatic transmission. A 173 hp 2.7-liter V6 mated to a four-speed automatic transmission is standard on the SE and Limited trim. Four-wheel drive models are offered in SE and Limited trim only and also have the same standard 2.7-liter V6 mated to an identical four-speed automatic transmission. Standard safety features for the Tucson include side-curtain and side-impact airbags, all-disc antilock brakes with traction control, active front head restraints and an electronic stability system.

The 2008 Hyundai Tucson is a carryover from 2007 with the addition of a new active head restraints safety feature. Also, the Limited trim receives a standard six-disc CD changer.

AT A GLANCE

From a fit-and-finish standpoint, the Tucson is built as well, if not better, than any previous Hyundai.
