Review of 2013 Hyundai Genesis
Had a 2012 which was lost in the Sandy storm and bought a new 2013. The 2013 Genesis has a much improved feel when driving and the shocks must have been changed from last year as the ride is very much improved.
My 2012 Genisis
Overall it is a wonderful automobile, the styling is right, the interior is well appointed, the sound system is excellant, fit and finish are great. The V6 engine is powerful and very quiet, there is a slight pause upon excelleration, the milage is as expected. The ride is very harsh for an automobile in this class. I feel that there are some things Hyundai needs to address: when the car is first started the A/C does not start as soon as the engine is started, and it blows hot air for a few minutes until cold air starts to flow, this is uncomfortable in Florida where the summers are extremely hot. The front cup holder is useless, unless you are placing a very large drink in the holder, a normal size water or soda bottle flop around like a fish out of water. The controls for the cooling system use blue lights above the function, they wash out during the daytime as the are pointed toward the light. The rear view mirror has a compass the symbol for South is a "5" instead of an "S". The front doors on the car have a rather long reach to close an assist strap would be a nice addition. The harsh ride of the vechicle needs to be addressed my car is equiped with Dunlop tires which are not known as a quality tire. The clock used in the base model looks and feels cheap. There is no remote start offered, which I feel is a mahor oversight in this class. My experience with the selling dealer was aweful I got the Accemt treatment at the Genisis price, I will not do any further business with that dealer. The dealer I use for servie is more attentive and customer focused. Hyuandi you have some work to do to address these issues
2012 Genesis 3.8 with Premium and Technology Packages
My Genesis 3.8 is 4 months old and I couldn't be happier. The highway mileage has exceeded all expectations ranging from 31 to a high of 34.7 MPG. The perforated leather seats are awesome, the Lexicon sound system is the best I have ever heard, it has all the luxury features you get from BMW, Lexus, Mercedes, and Audi but you end up paying half the price, half the sales tax, and half the exise tax. Rebadging cost was $26 and took all of an hour. The best feature is that the kids no longer kick the back of my seat, they can't reach it. Drive it and compare the MPG, repair costs, warranty, features, space, ride and performance with any car and you will experience the best value for your 2012 dollar.
CAN'T BELIEVE ANY REVIEW OF THIS CAR THAT IS NOT PERFECT. I RECENTLY PURCHASED A GENESIS R-SPEC (BLK/BLK). I OWN A CUSTOM Z06 VETTE AND ALWAYS HAD A SPORTS CAR AND LUXURY VEHICLE. THIS CAR FILLS THE VOID PERFECT. IT IS BEAUTIFUL, FUN TO DRIVE (ALL KIND OF POWER) , MADE WELL, HAS EVERY LUXURY FEATURE THAT ANYONE COULD EVER ASK FOR AND IS IT'S OWN "STATUS SYMBOL". IN ADDITION, NOTHING IN IT'S CLASS CAN COME CLOSE TO THE UNBELIEVABLE PRICE AND SERVICE YOU GET. FORGET THE HYUNDAI STIGMA - 25 YEARS AGO THEY PLAYED THE GAME NOW, THE COMPANY MAKES GREAT CARS AND THEY ARE SETTING STANDARDS.
2012 4.6 Sedan
Purchased mid October 2011, a bit over 6000 miles now. The V8 doesn't need any options as it comes with everything. The extras are things such as an auto roll up rear window screen, folding side mirrors, adaptive cruise, lane departure warning system, navigation and a 17 speaker lexicon sound system that's the best I've ever heard. The car is the quietest I've ever driven and the 385 hp is all you'd ever want. I rebadged the car with the genesis wings and very few have guessed Hyundai at first glance. I took a 2200 mile trip with the car and averaged 27 mpg. The adaptive cruise makes Interstate driving a joy and it's the perfect car for long distance cruising. Not one problem to date and the 100,000 mile waranty gives one peace of mind. A fine automobile!
I have had the car for about 3 months. I feel that you almost have to add the premium package to feel that you have most of the items to make the car feel that you are driving a luxury automobile. The car is very nice. The trim-out is well done, the gas mileage for a car with 2,800 is very close to what they say, both on the road & in the city. I think the exterior of the car is great looking and I have received many people looking at the Genesis, & asking all types of postive questions or postive remarks about the car. I will say the ride is a little bit harder than I think it should be, but not that bad either. The cabin is also very quiet. The service at my dealer seems to be alot less than its competitors like Audi, Acura, Infiniti,Lexus & Mercedes. Hope that helps...
Genesis, Better Than Audi or BMW?
I have owned and driven both the Audi A6 and the BMW 528. I have logged over 100,000 miles on each. I purchased a slightly used 2009 Genesis with 17,000 on the odometer last fall. I driven about 10,000 miles and can say without any hesitation that the ride, economy and feel of this car is vastly superior to either of the German "luxury" cars I owned previously. I feared that rear wheel drive might be a problem after driving a quattro but even in a snow enviornment it has not proven to be a problem. Great stuff at a better price and hopefully far fewer expensive repairs down the road.
Superb Value, Quality, and Comfort
I had the pleasure of letting my wife pick out a car for her anniversary present. After driving a CTS Cadillac, C300 Mercedes, 325 BMW, Lexus IS 250, she picked the 2010 Genesis with the 4.6 V8. She loves her car it is luxurious and has plenty of power. We drove 1200 miles to Orlando, and it drove great and averaged 26 miles per gallon. The Lexicon stereo system is awesome with 8" navigaton system. She gets many compliments and they are always asking who makes the Genesis since she has the Genesis wings on the trunk versus the Hyundai emblem. I would totally recomment this Sport Luxury Sedan
Review of 2011 Hyundai Genesis
I bought a 2009 Genesis V8 in December 2009 which was a Sales Managers car with 8,000 miles on it. I assumed that since it was the managers car it would have had excellent service, and they assured me that this was the case. However after having the car for a few days, I decided to check the oil. It was extremely dirty and was down 2 qts. With only 8,000 miles on the car I was naturally concerned. Where did the oil go? Why wasn't it ever changed?? - When I took the car back the dealership made light of the situation and offered to service the car for free, which they did. I think that Hyundai has a problem with who is selling their cars, not the cars themselves. The car is using a qt of oil about every 2000 miles. It drives great but this is a concern. I bought a Lexus LS 400 from Penske when they first came out, then a Lexus GS 400 from Vista when they first came out. With over 100,000 miles on both of them they never used any oil. Is this going to be a problem with my Hyundai in the future???
