2009 Hyundai Elantra Touring Overview
Introduction
The all-new Hyundai Elantra Touring is a sporty and practical variant of the popular Elantra sedan. The Touring is based on the European i30 and marks the return of a hatchback to the Elantra line-up since it was last offered in 2006.
The Elantra Touring is offered as one well equipped model and shares its engine and transmissions with the sedan. The 138-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine can be had with a five-speed manual transmission with a B&M Racing sport shifter, or a four-speed automatic. Standard features include: sport suspension, 16-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning, power windows, locks and heated mirrors, remote keyless entry, AM/FM/XM/CD/MP3 audio system with USB and auxiliary inputs, and a tilt & telescoping leather steering wheel with audio controls. Standard safety equipment includes electronic stability control with traction control, four-wheel anti-lock brakes, tire pressure monitoring, active front head restraints, six airbags and fog lights.

NHTSA rates crash-tested vehicles by assigning them one to five stars, with five stars indicating the most injury protection and one star indicating the least protection.
