2008 Honda Element Overview
Introduction
The Honda Element is a crossover sport utility vehicle designed to maximize space for people and cargo in a fairly small package, with driving characteristics similar to that of a small sedan. It replaces the CR-V as Honda's entry-level SUV and aims to appeal to a young and active crowd.
The Honda Element is available in three trims. All come with a 166 horsepower, 2.4-liter, 4-cylinder engine with a choice of five-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, but the LX and EX models are available with all-wheel drive. Tough, stain-resistant upholstery and urethane floors make for easy clean ups. The Element SC trim, dubbed an "urban cruiser," comes with a fully painted exterior. Its suspension is lower and stiffer for improved handling, and it has larger 18-inch wheels.
The 2008 model is a carryover from 2007.
NHTSA Frontal Crash Test
NHTSA rates crash-tested vehicles by assigning them one to five stars, with five stars indicating the most injury protection and one star indicating the least protection.
