Bad AC design
The car is quite reliable, with the exception of the air conditioning. The pump broke at about 64,000 miles, and the dealer quoted $3200 to replace it. He also said that the entire system would need to be replaced, including hoses, radiator, and heat exchanger. Not a good sign of a well-engineered car.
Reliable, consistent fuel economy
I have over 200,000 miles in this std 5 speed all-wheel drive car. I have used it for commuting, camping, hauling 3+ teenagers around. This car is RELIABLE!. I have had 24 mpg since the day I bought it new. Sun, rain, and snow (sometimes 12+inches with no problems - snow tires though) The only issue is that the engine needs 1 qt of oil added each month. I never had this looked at as it would cost more than the few bucks a month to keep it topped up. I plan to use this for the next 3-4 year…
My 1999 was perfect till a chevy took it out.
