2008 HUMMER H3 SUV Review Summaries
What reviewers liked most about the HUMMER H3 SUV:
With a starting price tag of $29,500, the H3 is a far cry from the H1, which has a 300-horsepower diesel engine and can set you back $140,000, and the H2, which sells for about $50,000.
-- Car and Driver
Inside, the H3 has one of the cleanest layouts we've ever seen in a GM vehicle. There's even some style thrown in: two-tone decors, contrasting piping on tailored leather seats and slick metallic trim.
-- Edmunds.com
The ride is smooth and comfortable, however, and the H3 feels stable when going around turns. The steering is reassuringly firm at highway speeds without being annoying in the parking lot.
-- Edmunds.com
...the H3 has a good amount of standard equipment. It includes air conditioning, cruise control, a tilt wheel, an AM/FM/CD player and power mirrors, windows and locks with remote keyless entry. There also are split-folding back seats, a rear wiper-washer and even a tire pressure monitor.
-- MSN Autos
...the appeal of the Hummer H3 is increased by its fuel economy ratings. While its larger siblings average only 10 or 12 miles per gallon, the H3 is rated at 20 miles per gallon on the highway with its standard five-speed manual transmission or 19 mpg when equipped with an optional four-speed automatic. Both transmissions are rated at 16 mpg in city driving.
-- New Car Test Drive
What reviewers liked least about the HUMMER H3 SUV:
The squat window line and long hood limit visibility a bit, but that?s the price you pay for Hummer?s trademark style.
-- Car and Driver
The H3 shudders after each bump or dip it traverses. Nowhere is the solidity that added to the H2's macho composition.
-- Cars.com
Acceleration is fine around town, but highway passing maneuvers take planning. Throw in some elevation increases, and the H3 feels underpowered.
-- Edmunds.com
Best one-liner about the HUMMER H3 SUV:
Not only can you tackle two-track off-road trails in the H3 without wondering if you'll fit around the next bend, you also don't have to worry so much about flattening mailboxes while backing out of driveways, either.
-- Edmunds.com
If any Hummer makes sense for general civilian use, it would have to be the new Hummer H3, which is smaller, less expensive and more fuel-efficient than other Hummers.
