2009 GMC Yukon XL 1500 Overview
Introduction
The GMC Yukon XL 1500 has a fresh and comfortable interior. Building on a recent redesign it carries over for 2009 with a sleek body mounted on a strong, stiff frame with power steering, disc brakes, and a touring suspension.
Available in 2WD or 4WD and in three trims the Yukon XL 1500 seats up to nine passengers and is rated to tow up to 8100 pounds when properly equipped. Equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission, the SLE and SLT trims have a choice of four V8 engines, two of which are E85 fuel compatible. A 310-hp 5.3-liter V8 is standard, a 366-hp 6.0-liter V8 is optional. A 403-hp 6.2-liter V8 is exclusive to the Denali trim. Safety features standard on all models include dual-stage front airbags, side curtain airbags, four-wheel anti-lock brakes with dynamic rear proportioning, Stabilitrak stability control system with rollover mitigation, tire pressure monitoring system, and OnStar.
The 2009 model is a carryover from 2008.
NHTSA Frontal Crash Test
NHTSA rates crash-tested vehicles by assigning them one to five stars, with five stars indicating the most injury protection and one star indicating the least protection.
