2007 GMC Canyon Overview
Introduction
The GMC Canyon ushered in a new breed of midsize pickups. These new trucks boast roomier cabins and car-like ride comfort. Towing capacity was deliberately limited in favor of a smooth ride and good fuel economy.
The Canyon is powered by a 185 hp 2.9-liter Vortec four-cylinder or a 242 hp 3.7-liter inline-five-cylinder. The option of a five-speed manual gearbox or a four-speed automatic transmission is available. All Canyon engines have electronic throttle control, variable valve timing and coil-on-plug ignition. Safety features include: A tire pressure monitoring system, four-wheel antilock brakes and dual-stage front airbags with a passenger-side occupancy sensor.
For 2007, the GMC Canyon gets a slight power increase for its engines.
NHTSA Frontal Crash Test
NHTSA rates crash-tested vehicles by assigning them one to five stars, with five stars indicating the most injury protection and one star indicating the least protection.
