2006 GMC Canyon Overview
Introduction
The GMC Canyon is GMC's version of the Chevrolet Colorado. It is a regular sized pick up truck with four doors and a smooth handling ride. Compared to other pick up trucks, the Colorado has a more civilized ride and a more accommodating interior.
A 2.8-liter four-cylinder engine rated 175 horsepower comes standard in most models; a 3.5-liter five-cylinder rated 220 horsepower is optional and standard on upper-level models. A five-speed manual transmission is standard with either engine, with a four-speed automatic optional. Regular Cab, Extended Cab, and Crew Cab configurations are available. The vehicle is rated to tow as much as 4,000 pounds, enough for ATVs, watercraft, campers, or light boats. The Canyon Z71 is the off-road model, the new Canyon ZQ8 is the sports model that emphasizes sporty handling, and the SLT version is the leather-and-luxury flagship version.
For 2006, the Canyon has become available is more diverse models, which offer a greater degree of customization.
