2009 Ford Explorer Sport Trac XLT 4.6L 4dr 4x4 Overview
The Ford Explorer Sport Trac is effectively an Explorer SUV with a pickup bed, a midsize utility vehicle that delivers rugged styling, capable power and a versatile cargo area.
The five-passenger Sport Trac is available in rear-wheel, four-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations, in a choice of trim levels: XLT or Limited on rear-wheel and four-wheel drive models, and Limited only on all-wheel drive models. All trims can be equipped with either a 210-hp 4.0-liter V6 engine and five-speed automatic transmission, or a 292-hp 4.6-liter V8 engine and six-speed automatic transmission. Standard safety features on every Sport Trac include AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control, anti-lock disc brakes and a tire pressure monitoring system, as well as dual front, front side-impact and side-curtain airbags.
For 2009, the Ford Explorer Sport Trac carries over with minor adjustments to standard equipment and restructured option groups. Satellite radio is now standard on all trim levels, while a new Trailer Sway Control feature is incorporated into the stability control system.

NHTSA rates crash-tested vehicles by assigning them one to five stars, with five stars indicating the most injury protection and one star indicating the least protection.
