2006 Ford Expedition Overview
Introduction
The Ford Expedition is a smooth, stable and refined full-size SUV. What it does best is move large quantities of people and their gear.
The Expedition is offered in five trim levels: XLS, XLT, Eddie Bauer, Limited, and King Ranch. Each of these is available with rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. All are powered by a 5.4-liter overhead-cam V8 with variable valve timing and three valves per cylinder. New last year, this engine develops 300 horsepower and 365 pound-feet of torque. The only available transmission is a four-speed automatic. Safety for all models is enhanced by Expedition's big, rigid frame and low front bumper. Anti-lock brakes and dual-stage front airbags come standard on all models.
The Ford Expedition is a carryover from 2005.
NHTSA Frontal Crash Test
NHTSA rates crash-tested vehicles by assigning them one to five stars, with five stars indicating the most injury protection and one star indicating the least protection.
