I have a 2006 dodge ram 2500 cummins 5.9 of course and i must say im very pleased with the truck, its my first diesel and i love it. Dodge makes a great diesel truck, i dont tow anything yet with my truck but around town im seeing 18 - 20 mpg and on the highway im seeing 22 - 31 mpg. Its completely stock no chips no mods no nothing, i drive it nice keep the rps under 2000 and im fine. I cant really complain about to much i have storage underneath the back seat storage up front and all around the rear sliding window the only think i dont get is that my interior lights only stay on for about 15 seconds and then they shut off. Other then ******** an awesome truck and youll get better gas mileage then duramaxs or powerstrokes. These trucks are real easy to modify, and make a great show truck. Diesel fuel isnt to expensive anymore around here anyway and what other truck can go 700 miles plus on a tank of fuel. If you find a better truck then the cummins that gets better fuel economy and that matches what it can tow and what it can do and thats a diesel let me know

I purchased a SLT package with cloth seats. I feel the interior of the truck degraded of the 2005 model, the seats are not comfortable and the cup holders are a joke!!! Other then that, the truck is awesome, you can not beat a Cummins engine for performance and mpg. I haul a 36ft 5th wheel travel trailer with no problem. My mpg is 21 in town and around 14 hauling the trailer. I have seen as high as 24 mpg on the highway, of course this is after the engine in broken in. New engines get around 16-18 mpg. Of three truck makers, the Cummins is the best, the Powerstroke has had its problems and the Duramax is not built for the long haul, you cant use aluminum in a high compression engine and hope it will last. The Cummins is built out of cast iron and has less moving parts the the other V8's. If you want a cushy truck that does not work to hard and you have to get a diesel, check out the chevy or ford. If you want a real work truck that will last forever (If you properly maintain it)and take the abuse, buy the dodge. I dont know of many vehicles that are capable of a million miles, this is one of them. Also, the 5.9 Cummins is rated by the EPA and a medium/heavy duty engine, where the ford and chevy are rated as light/heavy duty, this means that the Cummins has a overhaul scheduled for 350,000 miles where the light/heavy duty engines are at 250,000 miles.
