2006 Dodge Magnum Overview
Introduction
The Dodge Magnum is technically a car, although it has the storage capacity of a truck and the performance of a sports car. The notion of a crossover vehicle is very applicable to the Magnum.
The vehicle comes equipped with Multi-Displacement System, which shuts down half of the cylinders in the engine during light road conditions so that fuel economy is improved. For handling, it comes equipped with an Electronic Stability Program, which allows for better handling and traction during varying weather conditions. Safety features on all models include advanced multistage dual front airbags and the LATCH child seat anchor system. Also included are side-curtain airbags designed to improve head protection for front- and rear-seat occupants. The engine varies from a 2.7-liter V-6 in the SE version to a 6.1-liter V-8 Hemi in the SR8 and comes available with AutoStick, a clutchless, semiautomatic transmission.
For 2006, the Magnum comes with an available backseat DVD entertainment system.
The Dodge Magnum is a full-size American station wagon with spacious cargo capacity, set apart by its hot rod styling, powerful engine, and exceptional versatility.
The Dodge Magnum is available in four models: Base, SXT, R/T, and SRT8. The rear-wheel drive Base model uses Chrysler's proven 2.7-liter aluminum V6 mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. Standard equipment includes premium cloth interior, a 60/40 split rear seat with center armrest, rack-and-pinion steering, 17-inch wheels and disc brakes. The SXT comes with a 3.5-liter single overhead cam V6 and a five-speed automatic with AutoStick and the option of all-wheel drive. The R/T gets the 5.7-liter V8 Hemi with MDS, which can shut off half its cylinders to conserve gas, and a five-speed automatic transmission with AutoStick and the option of all-wheel drive. The SRT8 features the 6.1-liter V8 Hemi and a five-speed AutoStick automatic. Brake assist and antilock brakes are standard.
For 2008, the Magnum receives extensive exterior and interior restyling.
