2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Overview

Introduction

The Chevrolet Silverado still stands tall among a superb new crop of full-size pickups. Roomy cabins, comfortable seats, a comfortable ride, and powerful engines make the Silverado a great work truck.

Like all full-size pickups, the Silverado is available in a vast array of configurations: two-wheel drive and four-wheel-drive; regular cabs, extended cabs, and crew cabs; short beds (6-1/2-foot) and long beds (8-foot). Three trim levels are available: base, LS, and LT, plus a sporty SS. Full-width Fleetside beds are standard, but retro Sportside beds are offered for selected models. The light-duty 1500 series offers payload ratings from 1,215 to 2,040 pounds. Silverado 1500 models are available with a 4.3-liter V6, a 4.8-liter V8, a 5.3-liter V8, or a 6.0-liter V8.

The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is a carryover from 2005.

The new Silverado is designed to continue its reputation among owners as the 'strongest, most dependable and longest lasting truck on the road.'

The Chevy Silverado 1500 is available in several trim levels: WT, LT and LTZ, plus an LS version in standard cab, extended cab and crew cab body styles. Engines include a 195-hp 4.3-liter V6 engine; a 295-hp 4.8-liter V8; a 315-hp 3.5-liter V8 in gasoline or flexfuel (gasoline and E85 ethanol) versions; and a 367-hp 6.0-liter V8. The standard cab can be outfitted with a 6-foot, 6-inch or long 8-foot bed. The extended cab also offers a short 5-foot, 8-inch bed, which is the only bed available on the crew cab. Two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive are available in all three body styles.

The Chevrolet Silverado is fully redesigned in 2007.

The Chevrolet Silverado, redesigned for 2007, aims to continue its reputation as the 'strongest, most dependable and longest lasting truck on the road.' The 1500 is a 'half-ton', full-size pickup.

There are four engine sizes to choose from: 4.3-liter V-6, 4.8-liter V-8, 5.3-liter V-8 and 6.0-liter V-8; all are controlled by a four-speed automatic. Like all Silverados, the 1500 is available in a wide array of bed sizes, wheelbases, drive types and cab sizes, as well as a variety of trim levels. Safety features include driver and passenger front air bags, tire pressure monitoring system and four-wheel antilock disc brakes.

The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 carries over from 2007.

The Chevrolet Silverado works hard to live up to its reputation as the 'strongest, most dependable and longest lasting truck on the road'. The 1500 is the 'half-ton', model in Chevrolet's full-size pickup line-up.

There are five engine sizes to choose from: 4.3-liter V6, 4.8-liter V8, 5.3-liter V8, 6.0-liter V8 and 6.2-liter V8; and two transmissions: a four-speed automatic and a six-speed automatic. Like all Silverado's, the 1500 is available in a wide array of bed sizes, wheelbases, drive types and cab sizes, as well as a variety of trim levels. Safety features include driver and passenger front air bags, tire pressure monitoring system and four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes.

The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is visually unchanged from 2008, but adds the availability of a new 6.2L FlexFuel engine, a new six-speed automatic transmission, electronic stability control standard on all V8-powered trim levels, as well as optional Bluetooth and XM NavTraffic.
