With design cues evocative of the legendary 1969 model, the 2013 Chevrolet Camaro combines the spirit of the classic American muscle car with the fuel efficiency, safety, handling, technology and build quality expected in a modern performance coupe. The ZL1 convertible is new for 2013.
The Camaro is available in four trims: LS, LT, SS and ZL1. The LS and LT are powered by a 323-hp direct-injected 3.6-liter V6 with a six-speed manual or an optional six-speed automatic transmission. The SS's 6.2-liter V8 generates 426 horsepower with the standard six-speed manual, and 400 horsepower with the optional six-speed automatic with sequential shift control. The heart of the ZL1 is a supercharged 6.2-liter engine is rated at 580 horsepower and 556 lb.-ft. of torque. Standard equipment on all Camaros includes independent rear suspension, StabiliTrak stability control with traction control, six airbags, air conditioning, Bluetooth wireless connectivity, OnStar and SiriusXM satellite radio. The LT adds fog lights, 18-inch alloy wheels and power seats, while the SS features unique front fascia, sport suspension, Brembo brakes, electric power steering, and a limited slip differential. The ZR1's standard magnetic fluid-filled shock absorbers react instantly to road conditions and driver inputs, and Performance Traction Management, the launch control feature (manual transmission only), automatically modulates engine torque for the best-possible acceleration without excessive wheel spin. The ZL1 also features a rear-differential cooler, an integrated engine- and transmission-oil cooler, leather seating surfaces with suede microfiber inserts, distinctive front fascia and hood with air extractors, unique 20-inch forged aluminum wheels and rear-park assist with a rear-view camera display. The available RS Package includes 20-inch aluminum wheels with performance tires and distinctive high-intensity headlights with a "halo ring" display. Optional equipment includes power sunroof, performance tires, Boston Acoustics sound system and a variety of exterior stripe packages.
2013 marks the debut of the convertible version of ZL1 trim, the highest-performing and the most technically advanced Camaro ever produced. Hill Start Assist is now standard with all manual transmissions. Electric power steering is now standard on all SS models. The automatic transmission on LT and SS models now includes a remote vehicle starter system. Chevrolet MyLink, with Bluetooth streaming audio; hands-free smartphone integration with Pandora and Stitcher smartphone compatibility; and voice-activated technology for radio and phone is new and standard on all LT, SS and ZL1 models.
