The Q7 represents a fresh and beautifully rendered newcomer to the luxury SUV segment. Like other Audis, the Q7 is a paragon of driving elegance and interior refinement.

The Audi Q7 comes in three trim levels, 3.6, 3.6 Premium and 4.2 Premium. The 3.6 is powered by a 3.6-liter V6 that delivers 280 horsepower and comes standard with five-passenger seating, leather upholstery, automatic dual-zone climate control, and 18" wheels. The 3.6 Premium adds heated front seats, a 3rd row seat, power liftgate and satellite radio along with other luxury touches. The 4.2 is powered by a 4.2-liter V8 that produces 350 horsepower and adds even more standard luxuries such as side and rear sunshades, bi-xenon headlamps, navigation system and 20" wheels.

The Audi Q7 is basically a carryover from 2007 with some minor changes to standard and optional equipment, as well as the deletion of the 4.2 non-Premium trim that was available last year.

(Our)impression is of both overkill and underachievement, leaving us thinking that less would be more. We had hoped that Audi, if anyone, would rewrite the SUV playbook, or at least chapters of it... What progress we see is relatively two-dimensional.
