2006 Acura RL Overview

Introduction

The RL delivers the responsive handling of a sports sedan yet rides smoothly. It offers the latest in technology, including Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive and Collision Mitigation Braking System.

The Acura RL comes loaded with every luxury and convenience feature imaginable, including leather upholstery and Acura's navigation system. It is powered by a 290-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 mated to a 5-speed automatic with manual gear-shift. Safety features include SH-AWD, Vehicle Stability Assist with traction control, anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution and Brake Assist. Passive safety features include a driver's and front-passenger's airbags, side curtain airbags, and side-impact airbags. A tire pressure monitoring system is also standard.

For 2006, the Acura RL gets some package changes.

The 3.5 liter RL is available with a 5-speed SportShift with Overdrive, combining a free-revving, 290-horsepower V6 engine with all-wheel drive for improved grip and superior stability. The RL was completely redesigned for the 2005 model year, and it has undergone few external changes since.

The RL is outfitted with 17-inch alloy wheels, Xenon High-Intensity Discharge (HID) headlights and a power moonroof; interior comforts include heated front seats, leather upholstery, automatic climate control, satellite radio and HandsFreeLink (Bluetooth) wireless connectivity. Standard safety features include four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes with brake assist, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) with traction control, front side-impact airbags and overhead curtain airbags. The available Technology package includes a navigation system with voice activation, integrated rearview camera parking assist and real-time traffic information, and an Active Front Lighting System (AFS). Additional available high-tech equipment includes a Michelin PAX run-flat tire system, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and a Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS).

The 2008 Acura RL is a carryover from 2007.

Following an extensive redesign last year, the Acura RL carries over unchanged for 2010.
