At the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Nevada, AOL Autos announced the first ever Technology of the Year award. The first annual award will be presented to an automaker for outstanding achievements in connectivity, telematics, or active safety and will be presented at CES in 2013.
The criteria for the award spans the spectrum from technological breakthroughs to general ease-of-use, and will be judged by an expert panel of seasoned automotive journalists, leading technology writers, and a diverse group of jurors from an assortment of news outlets.
Nominated technologies must be embedded in model year 2012 vehicles launched in 2011, or model year 2013 vehicles made available for sale to the public in before the end of September, 2012. All nominations must be submitted by September 30th, 2012.

Eligible submitters include: auto and technology manufacturers, and editors in the technology and the autos industries. There can only be one winner. The challenge is on.
