Rex Roy, Editor-at-Large

Rex Roy's career in automotive journalism literally began in the bushes, where as a teen he used to hide with his trusty Konica FS-1 35mm camera in hopes of catching spy photos of passing prototype cars. His images appeared on the pages of Car and Driver and other publications from the late 1970s through early 1980s. After a significant career in advertising, Roy returned to his journalistic roots in 2004, working with Edmunds Inside Line and other top automotive outlets. Roy currently supplies words and photographs to as many as ten outlets per month, including AOL, The New York Times, The Detroit News, The Chicago Sun Times, and WindingRoad.com.

The crisply styled Fusion convincingly beat the Camry Hybrid's mileage by 8 mpg in the ci...

In a fuel-economy competition against the media, Gil (an engineer by trade) effortlessly triumphed by racking up economy numbers that significantly bested the journalists and EPA estimates. On some runs, Gil's Fusion returned nearly 47 mpg. We immediately wanted to know Gil's fuel econom...

Sacrilege or sacrosanct? Blasphemy or brilliance? The reality of a four-door Porsche begs the question. Several, actually. Perhaps the best interrogative is whether the 2010 Porsche Panamera deserves being classified as a genuine sports car, regardless of its nameplate and associated marketing hype. Hurtling at a serene 140 mph up the front straightaway at the legendary Road America racetrack begi...

Ask anybody over 50 this question, "What's the coolest thing you've ever owned?" Without missing a beat, most people will mention a favorite car or truck. It's been this way for generations. Cars are cool. Americans love them, what they stand for, their technology, and the freedom they provide. However, with the onset of Eco-Boomers coming of driving age, some are predicting the end of USA's love ...

Chevrolet Silverado HDs are made for towing and hauling. HUMMERs are made for off-roading. But what's the purpose of the new 2010 Ford SVT Raptor? Is this just a plain F-150 with a fru-fru trim package made up of big wheels and a stick-on graphics package? Or could this the world's newest super truck? Those who know trucks will recognize these models that qualify as past honorees of the super truc...
