A New Orleans woman did the right thing after she found a quarter of a million dollars on the side of the road: she turned it in.
Jessica Luebke noticed a grey mail bin sitting on the side of the road while driving from her West Bank office where she works as a parole officer. Something about the bin prompted her to take a closer look. Inside she found a clear bag filled with bundles of 20 and 100 dollar bills, which added up to $224,000.
Luebke told WGNO she was raised to never take something that didn't belong to her and immediately called Jefferson Parish police to report the money. An armored truck company that was transporting deposits from nearby Boomtown Casino claimed the cash. She still hasn't heard from the casino, though the truck company reached out to express their gratitude.
