Jurors began deliberations today in Akron, Ohio, where a 53-year-old man is accused of killing three men he lured into a meeting with phony job offers posted on Craigslist.
Last week in Providence, Rhode Island, four armed men robbed two people of $1,000 and a Macbook after it was advertised for sale on Craigslist. And in Los Angeles last week, police arrested a woman accused of selling fake Disneyland tickets on Craigslist.
Suffice to say, Craigslist is no stranger to the police blotter in matters large and small.
The latest example comes from Chicago, where a man was robbed of $5,000, his cell phone and his pants Sunday night. Police say he had arranged to buy an Infiniti on Craigslist, but when he showed up at the arranged meeting place, the door to the house was open.
The Chicago Tribune reports the 22-year-old victim went inside and began talking to two men. One pulled out a handgun, while the second, also armed, demanded he remove his pants and shoes. A third man emerged and accosted the victim's 20-year-old girlfriend, who had been waiting in a parked car.
